PATIALA, Nov 1: The Rajpura police claimed to have recovered 10 cows and two calves from a truck and arrested two persons in this connection.

Giving this information to ENS here, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajpura, Harchran Singh Bhullar said that after a tip-off, a police party laid a naka near village Dahriya8217;s bridge on GT road and intercepted a truck No HR-01-A-6526 carrying 10 cows and two calves. The police party arrested the occupants of the truck identified as Avtar Singh alias Tari and Amarjit Singh alias Amba and got the cows released immediately.

According to Bhullar, Tari and Amba were smuggling these cows to Uttar Pradesh for slaughter. The police has registered a case against the accused under Section 3/4 of Slaughter Act at police station Sadar of Rajpura.

Patiala: The Bajrang Dal today observed a quot;Shaheedi Diwasquot; here in memory of persons who had lost their lives at Ayodhya as karsewaks, according to a press release. District President of the Dal, Kishore Maadan claimed that workers from Vishva Hindu Parishad, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Arya Samaj Sabha, Cow Protection Samiti and Sewa Bharti participated in the function.
