
PUNE, August 27: The police today recorded statements of some of the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation MKVDC contractors inconnection with the alleged threats to corporation chief accountant A B Sawant.
The police officials, however, refused to divulge the details about the nature of the inquiry launched in the incident that has irked the accounts and finance officers.
Speaking to a delegation of Maharashtra finance and accounts gazetted officers organisation, district collector Vijay Kumar Gautam assured necessary action and also promised protection to MKVDC officials.
The officers8217; delegation called on the divisional commissioner who, according to a press release, assured them that he would call for a detailed report on the incident from the MKVDC.
The officers, meanwhile, have called off their plan to resort to a mass casual leave on Friday, organisation vice-president Dilip Jokhe said.
MKVDC officials and employees today condemned the contractors, stating that no officer was personally responsible for delayed payments to the contractors. MKVDC officials were finding themselves working under unsafe conditions, they said in a memorandum signed by officials from all five districts under the corporation jurisdiction.
