PUNE, June 26: A sub-inspector and three constables from Baramati, who had arrested Pinya Hari Kale, a Pardhi who died in custody, have been suspended by Superintendent of Pune Rural police Ashok Dhivre.

The orders pertaining to the suspension of sub-inspector B B Mohite and constables Hinge, Giri and Marne were issued yesterday after Deputy Superintendent of Police Mangaldas Ahiwale, who was assigned by Dhivre to probe into the matter, submitted the report of his inquiry.

Dhivre has also ordered shunting of the inspector in-charge of Baramati police station as well as sub-inspectors Shashikant Patil and Sadanand Belsare to the Pune Rural police headquarters at Pashan. The orders directed inspector Sureshchandra Mehta to take charge of the Baramati police station with immediate effect. The action was taken after the inquiry by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mangaldas Ahiwale revealed the police personnel had not acted on the directives in the Criminal Procedure Code while arresting Pinya Hari Kale, Dhivre said.
