Cop held for wife8217;s murder

NAGPUR, JULY 7: Suspended police constable Bhaurao Shankar Gaidhane who alleged strangulated his wife, Sunita, to death late Monday night, was arrested by Ajni police on charges of murder and attempt to destroy evidence.

Bhaurao, was attached to the Crime Branch before being trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and suspended, faces allegations of killing his wife over domestic quarrel arising out of his dual marital life.

According to police sources, Sunita was his first wife and Bhaurao8217;s second marriage was the cause of frequent quarrels between the couple especially, after the latter was suspended from service.

During one such quarrel, around 10.45 pm Monday, an enraged Bhaurao strangulated Sunita with the pallu of her saree till she died on the spot. The Ajni police are investigating.
