KOLHAPUR, SEPT 16: The Congress campaign to oust the `anti-people’ Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena Government will begin with a huge rally the Gandhi Maidan here on Saturday, MLA Digvijay Khanvilkar said today.

Speaking to mediapersons, Khanvilkar attacked the saffron alliance for uncontrolled inflation, hike in water cess and power tariff and `misleading’ the people.

The former minister produced a copy of the Shiv Udyog Sena’s letter signed by Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray’s nephew Raj Thackeray, alleging that the SUS was pressurising private and public sector industries to recruit SUS-sponsored job-seekers.

Khanvilkar criticised the government for alleged pressure on cooperative banks to contribute Rs 3,000 crore to the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. “The Government must use its own resources,” he said.

District Congress chief, MLA Baba Kupekar, said the Government was seeking assistance from cooperative banks on the one hand while attempting to break up the movement itselfon the other.

Both Congress leaders flayed the Government for its apathy towards dairy farmers. “Dairy farmers get low profit on milk sold at Rs 18 per litre in Mumbai,” they said. They urged the dairy farmers to resort to a doodh bandh agitation if milk prices were not raised immediately.
