Cong blames Advani for 145;delay146; in hanging Guru

Seeking to turn the tables on BJP8217;s attempts to 8220;politicise8221; terror, the Congress on Monday held L K Advani responsible for the 8220;delay8221; in hanging Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

Advani as the Home Minister from 1998-2004 8220;failed to deal8221; with any clemency petitions and this is the reason for the 8220;delay8221; in hanging Afzal, party spokesman Manish Tiwari told reporters and asked 8220;why didn8217;t Advani fulfil his responsibility8230;.8221;

8220;The situation is that law does not allow the Government to deal arbitrarily with one clemency request pending since 2006, at the will of the BJP, without dealing with the one pending since 1998,8221; he said.
