The Tendulkar clone has, no doubt, graduated to Bradmansque comparisons. But Virender Sehwag isn’t getting carried away by any of them. Reacting to Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer’s comparison of him to the greatest batsman in the world, Sehwag said, ‘‘such compliments don’t go to my head.’’

Talking to The Indian Express Sehwag said, ‘‘Such comments make me more responsible. In fact, I am still the same Virender who set out more than a decade ago to play entertaining cricket. I have not changed a bit. I only believe in hard work and entertaining the people in my own humble way.’’ On his earlier comparison with Tendulkar, Sehwag said, ‘‘I never modelled myself on any cricketer. Since Sachin was my childhood idol, there could have been some similarities in some of the strokes I play.’’

Wednesday also saw another facet of the dashing cricketer from Najafgarh. The Indian opener associated himself with Shikhar, an organisation for social development of the deprived, particularly the girl child.
