MUMBAI, February 18: Poonawalla Breeders8217; Million, which was first run in 1989, has not looked back since then. In fact, this great event is now grown to a multi-million rupee race and is scheduled for Sunday at Mahalakshmi. A crowded field of 18 aspirants, hailing from the most powerful stables and studs, will vie for honours.

The stakes are likely to touch all time record of Rs 5.5 million. This fabulous figure is thanks to the sponsors 8212; The Poonwalla Stud Farms, the best known stud of the country. Dr C S Poonawalla, Z S Poonawalla, their entire family and their team of over 100 dedicated staff members are busy for the last one month to make the occasion the most memorable.

The event has outclassed The Indian Derby in many ways. Many call it a quot;Common Man8217;s Derbyquot;. Thousands of casual visitors will throng the race course with a hope to return in the Maruti car. It is learnt that some of the champion riders from overseas are likely to don silks for this prestigious mega race.
