Cold feet

There was a little drama for discerning eyes at the Bhagat Singh Memorial at Hussainiwala border post in Ferozepur when Defence Minister AK Antony went visiting recently. Antony took off his shoes and went right up to the spot where the freedom fighter had been cremated. However, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor, who accompanied the minister, lingered behind, impeded by his intricately tied-up boots. Just as he started, a tad reluctantly, to untie his combat boots, a junior officer suggested an alternative and the General was led to another spot from where he saluted the memorial with his shoes on.
