‘Ranveer Singh was in a bad mood, Deepika Padukone tried to make up for him,’ recalls veteran journalist: ‘Ab jaane do ma’am…’
Deepika Padukone tried to make up for Ranveer Singh's bad mood, a senior journalist recalled in an earlier interview. The Dhurandhar actor later tried to make up for his behaviour.

Ranveer Singh must be on cloud nine as his film Dhurandhar is inches away from entering the Rs 1000 crore club. The actor, who recently completed 15 years in the business, has been through his fair share of ups and downs and in a recent interview, a veteran journalist recalled how she had to call off an interview with Ranveer because he wasn’t behaving well with her. She shared in an old interview that Deepika Padukone was also present in this interview and she tried to make up for his behaviour but he was in a terrible mood and the interview had to be cancelled.
Veteran journalist Bhawana Somaya shared this incident on the YouTube channel of Women’s Social Corner and recalled, “I went to interview Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone for Bajirao Mastani and for some reason, Ranveer wasn’t in a good mood that day and his behaviour with me was not okay. Deepika was conscious of this and she was trying to make up. I was also trying to indulge him thinking that I am older, I should forgive this behaviour, but he was still in a bad mood,” she recalled.
Bhawana shared that she instructed her team to pack up and told them that they won’t be doing the interview, but afterwards, she had a word with Ranveer. “I told him my career is more than your age. I have seen many superstars come up and vanish, I have seen them fall down, get back up, that’s all okay. But whatever has happened today, I am not going to hold it against you but tomorrow when your film releases. Don’t think that just because we had an altercation today, I will criticise your film. If you have done good work, you will receive due credit but if you have not done well then I won’t think about how you will perceive this. I will write what I feel,” she said.
She recalled that after she saw Bajirao Mastani, she praised his performance as he had actually done some good work. But, after this incident she stopped speaking to Ranveer. “After that, whenever I saw Ranveer Singh, I would look him in the eye and I wouldn’t speak to him. Then I met him one day, he said, ‘Ma’am, one year has passed now, let it go now’. I said, ‘Okay done. I will let it go’.” She added, “All of this keeps happening. In films and politics, there are no permanent enemies and no permanent friends.”
Ranveer’s Dhurandhar sequel releases on March 19. The film is being seen as Ranveer’s comeback after a series of moderate to flop films in the last five years, aside from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He is also getting a lot of appreciation for his subtle performance as he takes the sidelines and lets other actors shine. His co-star Naveen Kaushik recently praised Ranveer for being a collaborator who raises everyone’s performance in the frame. “Ranveer knew that if he tried to play himself as the star of the film, people will not be able to give their best work. They need to see him as Ranveer, as Hamza… the guy who joins the gang and slowly becomes friends with everyone. That’s what he did on the sets, he would always be friendly with everyone. He used this energy to make sure that people felt comfortable with him, instead of being intimidated,” he told SCREEN in an interview.
