YouTuber Dhruv Rathee recently claimed that actor Deepika Padukone has got skin lightening treatments done. However, the actor's fans defended her on social media.
Deepika Padukone got 'skin lightening treatments', claims YouTuber Dhruv Rathee
After taking a dig at Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, content creator Dhruv Rathee has now called out Bollywood actresses for getting skin-lightening treatments, including the actor’s wife, actor Deepika Padukone. In his latest video on YouTube, titled The FAKE Beauty of Bollywood Celebrities, Rathee claimed that many actors like Kajol, Bipasha Basu, and Priyanka Chopra have got such procedures done. But, his allegations didn’t sit well with Deepika’s fans and they jumped to defend her on social media.
“The beauty that you think is God-gifted, has actually become doctor-gifted,” he said, while pointing out at Bollywood celebrities in the video. Then, he mentioned a few cosmetic surgery procedures, including, nose jobs, lip fillers, fat removal, jawline augmentation, face lift, botox, and others, alleging that most Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities get these done to make the general public feel insecure. He then showed clips of several celebs accepting that they have gotten under the knife, and debunked the ones who haven’t publicly admitted it.
Besides botox, the YouTuber also listed names of many actors like Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Shilpa Shetty, Kajol and Priyanka Chopra, claiming that they all have got skin lightning treatment done. “Their skin colours used to look darker in the beginning of their career, but now it’s lighter,” he said. He also said that such actresses take a specific glutathione injection, but reason the change in skin colour with going less under sunlight and applying creams. He even claimed that actor Shefali Jariwala passed away because of taking an anti-aging injection on an empty stomach.
However, Rathee’s latest video didn’t go down well with netizens. Many fans defended Deepika Padukone on X and Reddit, slamming the content-creator for his claims. “The lighting helps and editing also happens in Final Cut. I don’t think she got any treatments,” a person wrote. “Look at her younger pics, she wasn’t thaaat dark. Barely medium skin tone. So she was just likely following the tan fashion trend of the 2000s in few of her looks like Aishwarya did for Dhoom 2,” another fan commented. “Well he was against dhurandar soo ya naturally he chose the best target,” a third comment read.
Dhruv Rathee criticised Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar earlier
This isn’t the first time Dhruv Rathee has attacked Bollywood. In his previous Youtube video, he had slammed Deepika’s husband, actor Ranveer Singh’s latest blockbuster Dhurandhar. Taking a dig at the film’s director Aditya Dhar and its alleged ‘well-made propaganda’, Rathee had called the movie ‘dangerous’. The video had received a lot of backlash from Ranveer’s fans and viewers who liked Dhurandhar.
