PUNE, June 17: Illegal constructions at Hotel Aashiana, Hotel Ashish Plaza and Hotel Savera on Fergusson College road were pulled down by the anti-encroachment squad of Pune Municipal Corporation PMC today.

The civic hammer came down on a room, a toilet and two stalls covering areas together admeasuring over 1400 square feet at Aashiana and Ashish Plaza, besides, a stall admeasuring 60 square feet at Hotel Savera.

The proprietors of Aashiana and Ashish Plaza reportedly resisted the action but in vain. They even tried to prevent mediapersons including cameramen of a local video daily, from covering the event even as the police posted for bandobast remained silent witnesses.

The squad impounded handcarts along with the goods, parked in frotn of the Mantri Market along the busy Pune-Solapur highway. Action was initiated against 27 handcart owners since they obstructed traffic.
