
AHMEDNAGAR, Nov 19: Police has arrested a team of 13 youths from Newase taluka who had allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman and her daughter to recover Rs 25,000 from a cheat.
According to a complaint registered with the Ashti police from Beed district, a person from Shiral village had sold bogus gold to a youth from Newase taluka for a price of Rs 25,000. The youth later realised that he had purchased only brass material. Later, accompanied by his accomplishes he went to Shiral and questioned why he had sold bogus gold and also demanded immediate repayment of Rs 25,000. The person who had sold bogus gold had no cash to repay and promised to pay the amount later. Thereafter, the youths threatened him with dire consequences and also attempted to kidnap his wife and daughter.
The 13 youths were arrested after the cheat registered a complaint with the police. The sessions court from Beed has sentenced them to police custody till November 20. All the accused belong to the age-group of 18 to 25 years.
