
NAGPUR, March 27: The Yeshwantrao Chavan Open University is all set to go high-tech.
Announcing this here today, Vice Chancellor Ashok Pradhan said the varsity was planning to set up three centres at Nashik, Hyderabad and Kota Rajasthan to impart education through satellite communication with the help of two-way audio-visual system.
Speaking to mediapersons at a meet the press programme, Pradhan said the project, costing approximately Rs four crore, would be operational soon.
The university would also introduce a diploma course in Consumer Protection from June this year and a course in Co-Operative Marketing is also on the cards, he added. A course for automobile mechanics would also be introduced shortly in collaboration with TELCO, the Vice-Chancellor added.
Presently the varsity boasted of 62,000 students at 681 study centres, he said.
The varsity was keen to enhance the strength to nearly 10 lakh, he added.
