CHANDIGARH, Dec 25: PGI bowlers made up for their batting failure to carve out an 18-run win over Pace XI in a league match of the tenth Champions Trophy cricket tournament here at the PGI ground today.

After getting to a relatively modest total of 141, PGI bowlers, especially Anil Chaudhary, Amit Bhardwaj and Raman Sharma bowled their hearts out in conditions, admittedly, to the bowlers’ favour. Chaudhary and Bhardwaj captured three wickets each while Sharma ha two as Pace XI were bowled out for 123, not even completing their quota of 30 overs. Opener Yadvinder top scored for Pace XI with a resolute knock of 48, but that went in vain.

If PGI managed 141, it was largely due to the joint efforts by opener Rajinder (39) and Chaudhary, who came up with a timely knock (38) down the order. For Pace XI, Ajay Disodia, Sandeep Arora and Umesh captured two wickets each.

Scores
PGI: 141 (Rajinder 39, Anil Chaudhary 38; Ajay Disodia 2-20, Sandeep Arora 2-15, Umesh 2-27) beat Pace: 123 (Yadvinder 48, Rocky 16, Jaswinder 15; Anil Chaudhary 3-20, Amit Bhardwaj 3-21, Raman Sharma 2-23).
