: 35-day Chetna Yatra is being organised by the city-based Netaji Research Foundation from here on June 14. According to the chairman of the foundation, V.P. Saini, the yatra will begin from Anandpur Shaib and will culminate at Chandigarh, after passing through important cities of Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

: More than 10,000 teachers working at 500 aided schools in Punjab have not been paid salaries for the last two months. Stating this in a press release here today, general secretary of the Punjab State Aided Schools Teachers and Other Employees Union, Manohar Lal Chopra has announced that a protest rally would be held at Patiala on June 6. While accusing the Punjab government of non-release of grants, Chopra stated that there was a deadlock, despite the chief minister’s assurance of holding talks with the union.

: Police have solved a theft case with the recovery of a stolen truck loaded with wheat and arrested two perosns.SSP Lok Nath Angra said here today the arrested persons Randhir Singh and Darshan Singh had allegedly helped Ranjit Singh alias Rana and Sukhdev Raj to sell the stolen wheat of the Food Corporation of India, stolen by Ranjit Singh and Sukhdev Raj from the FCI godown at Ghoman town. Angra said Ranjit Singh used to pose as an FCI inspector and loot the farmers and defraud the FCI officials.

: The police have arrested a gangster, who is believed to be a member of a gang, involved in two bank robberies, besides committing several other crimes in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.Stating this here today, SSP Rohit Choudhary said that one countrymade pistol of .12-bore along with three live cartridges had been recovered from Amrik Singh alias Raju alias Hiran of Naarur village near Phagwara.
