Chandigarh lose

PATIALA, SEPT 13: Patiala avenged their defeat in the one-dayer, beating Chandigarh by 103 runs in the two-day Punjab Inter-District Katoch Shield cricket match at Dhruve Pandove Stadium, here today.

Chasing Patiala8217;s modest total of 216 in 90 overs, Chandigarh had nothing going right for them from the word go. The two left-arm Patiala bowlers 8211; spinner Gautam Mandora and seamer Kiran Kumar 8211; played havoc in Chandigarh8217;s brittle batting order. Both captured three wickets each. Harikrishan Kalli chipped in with two wickets.

For Chandigarh, skipper Diensh Mongia had a decent start but could not build upon it. He was the top scorer with 22 but once he fell, panic set in their batting line up. Allrounders Sanjay Dhull and Anurag Sharma8217;s late-order attempt to revive the innings was too little, too late as Patiala collected full points from the league tie.
