VADODARA, Nov 30: The Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce has urged the Customs and Central Excise authorities to drop their proposal to affix security holograms on modvatable documents and all excisable goods. According to CGCC president Bhupendra Patel, the move would only create problems as it was practically impossible to affix holograms on goods manufactured on a mass scale, besides leading to corruption.

Patel also claimed that the new proposal would hamper trade and result in in an increase in litigation cases. 8220;Affixing holograms would require maintenance of records which would prove to be very difficult, time consuming, burdensome and costly to small-scale units,8221; he said.
