BJP vice-president Pyarelal Khandelwal has sounded a discordant note over the cancellation of petrol pumps by describing the decision of the Government as 8216;8216;hasty8217;8217;.
He told Indian Express here today that the cancellation appeared to have been ordered out of panic following a 8216;8216;false Congress propaganda8217;8217;.
Khandelwal maintained that all allotments had been made strictly in accordance with the rules and procedures laid down on paper.
The Government had no role in the matter and the allottees had been selected by dealer selection boards headed by retired judges. 8216;8216;I fail to understand why when the Government has not done anything it should cancel the allotments?8217;8217; he said.
Khandelwal said he saw no reason why BJP members should be excluded from any business venture. He said it did not behove the Congress to preach public morality to BJP over the issue after having allotted petrol pumps to its people during its rule. He wondered if the Congress would show the courage to demand the cancellation of all allotments made in the last 50 years. 8216;8216;Why start with just 2000, why not go back further?8217;8217; he said.
The point was echoed at the weekly BJP parliamentary party meeting too.
