
MUMBAI, July 22: Central Bank of India was scratched from the WIFA Super Division league. This was decided at the Western India Football Association WIFA Super Division League committee held late last evening.
The decision was taken following a protest by Air India on the banned side having played a Goa player without a valid transfer.
The airmen after having been held to a 1-1 draw by the bankmen, on June 21, had lodged a protest against the player, Valky D8217;Silva who had represented Curtorim Gymkhana in the Goa Second Division League, last season.
Followin inquiries with the Goa Football Association, the WIFA committee decided to scratch Central Bank from the nine-team elite league.
Reacting to the league committee8217;s decision, Central Bank, football Secretary Ajmatullah Khan was quoted to having been in dark of D8217;Silva8217;s past career in the Goan league. 8220;We will appeal against the decision,8221; Khan added.
