CELL STATUS

Here are some cell phones that make an ideal fashion accessory

.

Going by the current social mores, a cell phone is no longer an ubiquitous accessory but a style statement, an indicator of one8217;s status. Little wonder then that in keeping with the rising expectations, mobile phones are getting fancier by the year. Still, there aren8217;t many that have been designed keeping only women in mind. While some phone companies have come out with wild colours remember the Moto pink and gold that set the ball rolling, women don8217;t want just pink phones. Perhaps they are looking for curvier models or slim ones. Though it8217;s difficult to gauge what exactly they might be looking for in their fashion accessory, here are some options that may seem appealing.

Sony Ericsson Z555i: It8217;s the phone with the wow factor. While its prismatic cover and OLED screen lend it visual appeal, the gesture control is a bigger asset. So if you want to mute an incoming call or reject it, all you need to do is slide the hand over the phone without opening it. The prism design is inspired by diamonds woman8217;s best friend, and the reflective finish on the phone give you the leading edge in a party. But just because this adds to the bling factor doesn8217;t mean it8217;s not loaded with features. The Z555i comes with a camera, an FM Radio, EDGE, in-flight mode, speakerphone, Bluetooth and mobile blogging tools. The only downside is that the phone will not be available for some time.

Nokia Prism 7500: The only phone under Rs 10,000 in the fashion phone segment, Prism8217;s design has been inspired by the diamond. Even the 2-megapixel camera at the back is shaped like one. Though the Prism cuts make the keyboard layout a bit difficult to get used to, the changeable colour accents blue, green, pink make it a good fashion accessory. The screen is reflective, while the mixture of matt and reflective surfaces gives it a high-quality luxury look and feel. It also supports up to nine hours of music playback.

Samsung SGHU600: Samsung moves up its standard slide phones to the luxury segment. At just a centimeter thick and with soft curves, bevel cuts and decked in a jewel colour, this phone will make you the talk of the town. Like others in the fashion category, this phone has a mirror-like coating that bounces the light to give it a silky look and feel. It8217;s a Quad-band phone with a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 5.6-cm screen, an LED flash, EDGE connectivity, FM radio, a cool weight of 82 gm and a price tag of Rs 14,000.

MotoRazr2 Luxury Edition: The 18K gold-plated accents volume key, Motorola medallions and hinges, engraved diamond cut pattern on the sides, soft snake-skin texture on the back and ultra-slim a bit thicker than the Samsung at 12.05 mm, this represents exclusivity to the core. With 2 GB memory on board, Crystal talk technology to help you hear easily in noisy environments, and a 2.2-inch internal screen, this one is truly for the rarefied segments of the society. Though it8217;s not available in India yet, it8217;s just a matter of time before that happens.
