PUNE, May 6: A Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) team yesterday conducted flash raids at the residence of Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) managing director A K Basu and the company’s former director (finance) in Pimpri.
The sleuths, after a ten-hour search at the residences and offices of the HAL officials, confiscated a mass of papers, sources said.
About a dozen CBI officials simultaneously raided the residences of Basu and Doraiswamy around 7.45 am and later checked several files and also recorded statements of a few senior HAL officials, it was stated.
The country’s foremost penicillin manufacturing company, HAL has been under a cloud for a couple of years for alleged financial irregularities. Former BJP MP from Pune Anna Joshi had demanded a through probe into HAL entering an agreement with Max-GB for leasing and upgrading its penicillin-G facilities by the Parliament consultative committee.
