Aug 13: An Antonov cargo plane crashed on Saturday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo killing all on board, sources at the national aviation authority told Reuters on Sunday.
"There were no survivors," said one source. He could not sayhow many people were on board but said he thought the plane had around 20 seats.
The source said the Russian-built plane, which belonged tolocal operator Stare Air and was piloted by a Ukrainian, crashed on Saturday afternoon, 63 km (40 miles) from Tshikapa, a city southeast of Kinshasa in Kasai Occidental province.
Aviation authorities also said they did not know how manypeople were on board or what caused the crash, sources said.
According to another source the plane, flying a round tripfrom Kinshasa to Tshikapa, an important diamond mining centre, turned back when the Pilot discovered a problem with one of the tyres and crashed shortly after.
