Red Cross president to visit city
International Red Cross president, Geneva, Dr Astrid N. Heiberg, will be in New Delhi on June 24 to launch the World Disaster Report 1998. She will also visit Chennai, where she is scheduled to go to the Indian Red Cross-run cyclone shelters. Dr Astrid is from Norway and was elected president of the International Red Cross in November 1997.

NSUI training, orientation camp at AICC HQ
NSUI Delhi organised a training and orientation camp for college and block presidents at the AICC headquarters on Sunday. NSUI president Alka Kapoor said that training would be given more importance in the coming days. Pranab Mukherjee, Ramesh Cheanitala, Mukul Wasnik, Meera Kumar and Mani Shankar Aiyer were present at the camp.

Prem Bhatia Scholarship for mediapersons
nThe Prem Bhatia memorial trust is offering an annual scholarship of Rs 40,000 for research in media-related subjects to media persons below 35 years.The trust has asked for applications for the scholarship, accompanied by an outline of the research project in about 1,000 words and the names of at least two referees connected with the profession.The project should be on some specific area of inquiry that would enable the applicant to sharpen his or her skills, it said. Applications for this year should be submitted before July 20.

Ceremony for Sheila Dikshit at Sadar Bazaar
A Welcome ceremony was organised for the newly elected president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Sheila Dikshit, at Sadar Bazar on Sunday.Among those present at the ceremony were former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler, Kulanand Bharti, K.C. Malik, Amar Nath Malhotra, Satish Saxena and J.N. Bhandari.
