CHANDIGARH, April 16: Discipline and dedicated teamwork marked the NCC annual function of the 2/4 Infantry Company at the Central Polytechnic, Chandigarh. The Infantry Company has a strength of 160 and is led by Major P. D. Sharma, associate NCC officer, Central Polytechnic.Kewal Krishan Adiwal, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, was the chief guest at the function. After the lamp-lighting ceremony, cultural items were presented by the students. They performed solo and group dances and a choreography item was also presented by the cadets of institute.A request for the improvement of the poor condition of the roads leading to the institute, facilities for obstacle-race-course and firing range were made to the Mayor by the students of the institute.S. L. Sapra, principal of the Central Polytechnic who presided over the function, in his welcome speech congratulated Major P. D. Sharma who was adjudged the best NCC officer from Chandigarh group for 1998-99. He also congratulated the 32 cadets who had passed their `B' certificate and 6 cadets who passed their `C' certificates during the current year.
