This was announced at a meeting on VQs arranged by Confederation of Indian Industry CII here on Monday. The BTI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with CII for implementing this training programme based on a British model. The areas where the programme will be implemented, probably from September, include textiles, chemicals, instrumentation and telecom, civil engineering and construction, mechanical engineering industries, electrical and electronics. Minister for Labour and Employment Ashok Bhatt indicated the government8217;s keenness to cooperate with the BTI-CII initiative on improving VQs of industrial workers on lines of national vocational qualifications NVQs of Britain. He said the government could even change the syllabi of ITIs in Gujarat in consultation with BTI to make them compatible with changing technological requirements.
