A video of a man bragging about flouting traffic rules while driving a Mahindra Thar has gone viral on the internet, triggering outrage. In the self-shot video, the driver is seen driving on the wrong side of the road and claiming that owning a Thar gives him immunity from legal action.
He is heard boasting that “the biggest advantage” of the vehicle is that “no one will bother you even if you drive on the wrong side”.
Although the exact location where the video was recorded has not been confirmed, several social media users have tagged traffic authorities, including the Delhi Traffic Police, urging them to take strict legal action against the driver and suspend his driving licence.
Sharing the video, an X user, Rattan Dhillon, wrote, “COVID ended, but another epidemic took over our roads the Thartards mentality virus! This mindset is beyond insane. How does buying a vehicle suddenly delete common sense? It’s honestly shocking and dangerous.”
“If anyone can genuinely figure out what psychological switch flips after buying a Thar, I’ll happily sponsor a full week’s vacation for them! Until then, save your near and dear ones from buying this vehicle as this epidemic is real and spreading fast!” Dhillon added.

The video quickly gained traction, with several users criticising the act. “The problem isn’t the Thar or Scorpio. It’s the entitlement some drivers think comes free with it,” a user wrote. “Who is this lunatic? Lets find his social media and teach this fool a lesson he won’t ever forget,” another user commented.
“I think buying a car should be linked to your driving licence in some way and india should make strict rules for issuing driving licences like it happens in western countries,” a third user reacted.
In December 2025, a driver in Ballabhgarh was fined Rs 7,000 after being caught steering his Thar with his feet. In another case in March 2025, a Thar driver in Noida was arrested and penalised Rs 38,000 for driving on the wrong side of the road and crashing into multiple vehicles following an altercation.
