Four-year-old girl found dead in Delhi drain after three-day search

On Monday, police said an intensive search was conducted in Vidhyapati Nagar along with the child’s parents. During the operation, the girl was found submerged in a drain near Dhruv picket. She was immediately pulled out and identified by her parents at the spot.

A four-year-old girl, who had gone missing from Rohini’s Kirari area in Northwest Delhi on January 9, was found dead in a drain on Monday, police said.

The child’s mother, a resident of Vidhyapati Nagar in Kirari, had approached the Prem Nagar police station on Friday, reporting that her daughter was missing and may have been kidnapped. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered and a search operation was launched.

Police said multiple teams were deployed to trace the child, with inputs shared across agencies. Technical surveillance was used to track possible leads, while a sniffer dog squad and a drone camera were also pressed into service to scan drains and water bodies in and around the area.

The body was later shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. The Mobile Crime Team and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) unit from Rohini were called to the spot to inspect the scene, collect evidence and take photographs.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances in which the child ended up in the drain and whether any foul play was involved.
