CHANDIGARH, Feb 15: The packets lying in a garbage bin in the Sector 27-C market today, which the shopkeepers suspected contained some explosives, eventually turned out to be eatable namkeen stuff.
According to police sources, they received a call around 4 p.m. that some stinking packets lay in a garbage bin kept just behind the Sector 27-C market, which they suspected could be some explosive substance.
The police reached the spot within minutes and emptied the garbage bin only to find that the packets actually contained chips and papad, which some shopkeeper might have thrown after the expiry date. These were some 60-70 packets of chips.
Sector 26 Station House Officer Kultar Singh, who visited the spot, said dog squads were also rushed as they could not afford to take any chances.
