NAGPUR, DECEMBER 20: Minister for Employment Shivajirao Moghe announced in both Houses of the State Legislature on Monday the setting up of the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, a body for development of Muslim youths.

The announcement came midway through the Zero Hour proceedings in the House when Moghe sought permission from the chair for making a special mention. He said the Mahamandal would be registered under the Company’s Act and would be governed by a seven-member board of directors with its headquarters based in Mumbai. A provision of Rs 50 crore has been made towards the share capital for the Mahamandal.

In another similar announcement, Minister for Higher and Technical Education Dilip Valse-Patil said the Government has decided to implement the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the State-run technical schools and institutions with retrospective effect from January 1, 1996.

In all 10,443 staffers would benefit from this decision, he said, adding, the State would bear an additional burden of Rs 10.51 crore. The decision also entails payment of arrears worth Rs 44.63 crore to these employees, he added.
