PUNE, Oct 4: Different shades of blue — that perhaps could India’s hockey future as the inter-camp junior quadrangular concludes tomorrow with Light Blues (U-21) taking on Dark Blues (U-18) at the PCMC Poligras Stadium.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the two sides will form the nucleus of the country’s challenge in the first decade of the new millennium after scintillating pace and power scripted emphatic wins today.

Light Blues steamrollered Orange 5-0 first, Dark Blues then blanked Reds 3-0 — promising in the process to run their senior counterparts, training at Bangalore, close.

Light Blues’ Prakash Chalke has shone in this tourney and two goals today to bloat a 3-0 lead lifts the inside-forward as a hot prospect for the country’s challenge at the 2001 Junior World Cup at Hobart, Australia and beyond.

Arjun Hallapa shot Light Blues ahead in the 2nd minute, Len Ayappa yet again scored from a penalty corner in the very next minute before a field goal by Gurjant Singh built a formidable lead in only 23 minutes.

Gabbar Singh, Roshan Tete and Kamlesh Singh scored for Dark Blues who led 1-0 at half-time of the 50-minute encounter.
