MUMBAI: Silver and gold failed to maintain their firm trend on the bullion market on Saturday and fell sharply following weak global advices. Ready silver .999 resumed weak at Rs 7855 and fell further to end at Rs 7840, showing a big fall of Rs 100 over the last close of Rs 7940. Raw silver .916 fineness fell by Rs 90 to Rs 7730 as against Rs 7820. Standard gold, however, started steady, but closed at Rs 4100, showing a fresh fall of Rs 20 over the last close of Rs 4120. 22-carat gold was quoted weak at Rs 3790 and ten-tola gold bar declined to Rs 48,100 from Rs 48,300.

MUMBAI: State Bank of India SBI has donated an amount of Rs 5 crore to the National Defence Fund for the welfare of valiant soldiers.
