NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today said further hearing in the Pana Mukta case pertaining to transfer of Pana Mukta Oil field in Maharashtra to Reliance-Enron consortium will take place only after perusal of CBI reports.

A division bench, comprising Justices Y K Sabharwal and K S Gupta said the two status reports submitted by CBI in sealed cover8217; had not yet been studied by it as the matter was partly heard by another bench earlier. Centre for public interest litigation CPIL and lawyer B L Wadhera, who had filed PILs sought quashing of the deal signed by P V Narasimha Rao government with the consortium. They alleged that oil fields developed by the ONGC by spending over Rs 500 crore, was transferred to the private sector for a very low price.

Cops on strike

PATNA: Siwan police owing allegiance to Bihar Policemen8217;s Association today launched an indefinite strike in protest against alleged assault on their collegue and snatching of his official pistol by RJD Lok Sabha member, Sahabuddin. BPMA president, Jitendra Narain Singh, confirming the strike said the policemen resorted to strike after the RJD MP and some others beat up, Deonath Ram a police bodyguard of CPI-MLL MLA, Satyadeo Ram and snatched away his official pistol. Singh said the incident took place when CPI-ML supporters were staging a dharna this afternoon in front of Siwan collectorate to protest against August 7 attack on their local party office allegedly by RJD workers.

Indian flags in Pak

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani police have arrested nine persons for allegedly hoisting Indian flags on some buildings in Sindh, Hyderabad and Parliament has been told that strict action will be against the offenders8217;. A number of National Assembly members pointed to media reports that some people hoisted Indian flags and in another incident the Pakistani flag was burnt in Karachi, allegedly by workers of MQM recently. The agitated members demanded immdediate action against the offenders8217;.

BSF action

SRINAGAR: Border Security Force BSF foiled an attempt of Pakistan to push a group of heavily-armed militants into Kashmir valley. A BSF spokesman said the infiltration bid by the militants was foiled in Naugam sector near the line of control where the intruders were caught in a strategically laid ambush near Pathwari forest, four kms from the Naugam valley.
