
JUNE 24: National Champion Vilesh Bhat and two others 8212; Shirish Patil and Swapnil Shah 8212; share the lead at the end of four rounds today in the Bank of Baroda National Chess Championship for the Blind being held at the Andheri Sports Complex here.
Top seed Bhat, second seed Patil and 10th seed Shah, all from Maharashtra, lead with four points. Fifth seed Madan Bagayatkar was lying in the third position with 3.5 points Bhat defeated Maharashtra8217;s Sunil Sasane, Patil beat Andhra8217;s N Siddaiah while Swapnil Shah upset the third seed Sanjay Karandikar. Bagayatkar defeated unhearalded Gaurav Gadodia of Maharashtra.Global Telesystems are the co-sponsors while Taj Air Caterers are providing the food.
