
NEW DELHI, MARCH 14: Seeded teams went through the motions and were awaiting their opponents in the evening session after they scored easy wins even as teams consisting of Indian shooters, the Navy, Indian Olympic Association and Bowling Fedration of India made progress winning their preliminaries in the fourth all-India Lawn Bowling championships at the Shanti Farm here today.
Expectedly, holders BFI from Calcutta and runners-up IOA received first-round byes. Several teams, comprising Delhi’s who’s who and some ambassadors also took part in the event.
The BFI team was represented by national players Gopi Sharma, Kamal Sharma and Bhaskar Rao and the IOA team comprised Aslam Khan, Gurbir Sandhu and Bharat Singh.
Some of the Delhi shooters, including Mansher Singh, Zorawar Singh and Manavjit also participated. There was also international flavour with players from some embassies competing. Margaret, Tomoko, Earnest and John fomred the International XI while teams like National Grid and some Delhi boys were also in action.
BFI won its games in the first two rounds and were all set to retain the title that they won last year.
