KOLHAPUR, July 15: Amardeep Bartakke definitely believes that perseverance is the key to success. Experimenting with a variation which backfired a few months back in Mumbai against IM P Konguvel, the top seed did well to adopt the same variation against G Balaji (Mumbai), and forced his opponent to resign.
The win thus helped Amardeep join strong contender Pallavi Shah and PG Date of Mumbai at the top with 4.5 points each after the fifth round in the Maharashtra State Chess Selection tournament organised by Kolhapur District Chess Association (KDCA) at Hind Co-op Society Hall, here today.
