DHAKA, JUNE 26: The International Cricket Council hasgranted Test status to Bangladesh, a government source said on Monday.
The executive committee of cricket’s world governing bodyvoted today to make Bangladesh a full member, a delegate of the Bangladesh Cricket Board attending the ICC meeting in London informed the Prime Minister’s office on telephone.
“The ICC today unanimously gave Bangladesh a full membership, making it a Test playing nation,” BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury told the Bangladesh News Agency BSS from London.
Bangladesh become the 10th Test playing country. The others are England, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
The ICC was expected to make an official announcement soon.
