PUNE, May 27: Vilas Chaphekar, founder director of Vanchit Vikas has been awarded the Samajshilpi, sculptors of the society, award by the Mumbai-based Nanasaheb Dandekar Trust. Chairman of the Vanvasi Kalyan Aashram Jagdev Ram Uranv and convener Bhaskar Kalambi are the other recipients of the award.

Veteran activist, founder of the Deendayal Research Foundation Nanaji Deshmukh will present the awards in Mumbai on June 5.

The Vanchit Vikas is a voluntary organisation working for rehabilitation of commercial sex workers and their children, destitute women and other unorganised classes besides undertaking various rural development projects.
