Cricket Australia (CA) today said it was confident Shane Warne would carry out his contractural obligations with the organisation after announcing he was now calling England home. The world-record wicket-taking leg-spinner said after Australia’s nine-wicket first Test win over New Zealand in Christchurch yesterday that he had bought a new home in Ocean Village, Southampton. The 35-year-old champion bowler said he would move there with his family because of its logistical sense and its proximity to Spain, favoured as a future home by his family.Warne, who has now taken 573 Test wickets, said he would continue playing for Australia and Victoria but would head to England to captain county side Hampshire next month, while he awaits the settlement of his new home. Those close to Warne say his English base will have no bearing on him staying with the Australian Test team and living overseas will not compromise his performances.CA and Cricket Victoria today gave their backing to Warne’s overseas relocation, while his spinning mentor Terry Jenner said his new home would have no bearing on their working partnership.
