
MUMBAI, September 28: On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of two great Indian leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the University of Mumbai has arranged for an Open Day’ at the Rajabai Tower Library in Fort Campus on October 2 this year.
Following the grand success of the earlier Open Day’ which was inaugurated by the Chief Justice of India, J S Verma, on July 19 this year, Mumbaiites will have yet another chance to browse through the rare books at the library.
The Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr Snehalata Deshmukh, recently stated: “As part of our plans for celebrations of the golden jubilee of our Independence, about 1,000 students and teachers of the University of Mumbai will rededicate themselves to the nation-building tasks on Thursday, October 2.”
It is, reportedly, for the first time that the varsity is organising such a grand and colourful function on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. This time the focus will mainly be on the books on Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri.
Members of public can visit the library between 11 am and 4 pm on Thursday.
