NEW DELHI, DEC 26: Another elderly couple, including a former Lok Sabha official, were found killed in their South Delhi house this morning even as police blamed local watchmen and denotified tribesmen for the spate of murders in the area.

The bodies of N P Jain 69, a retired under secretary with the Lok Sabha secretariat and his wife Indrani Jain 60 with multiple head injuries, were found at their F-block Saket residence by police control room personnel after being alerted by the couple8217;s driver this morning.

The door of the house was found forced open with a house breaking tool, police said adding the bedroom was found ransacked while two steel almirahs were also forced open.

Today8217;s double-murder comes close on the heels of the killing of a school teacher Shanthi Chari and her retired engineer husband S N Anantha Chari, whose bodies were found at a park adjoining SFS flats in Saket on December 25.

Incidentally, police had beefed up security in the area following the visit of city Lt GovernorVijai Kapoor and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to Chari8217;s residence.

Joint Commissioner Amod Kanth accused local watchmen of not taking appropriate action despite knowing about the presence of half-a-dozen strangers in the area last night. He said police suspected the involvement of some denotified tribesmen behind the spate of murders in the area. The concerned assistant commissioner of police Hira Lal, who is incidentally on leave, and the station house officer Mahipal Singh were transferred, he said.
