MUMBAI, OCTOBER 29: All Parsees rallied to hold Sutarwar 1-1 in an inconsequential encounter of the eight-team MDFA Harwood Super football league at St Xavier8217;s ground, Parel, today.

Both teams are out of the running for the title All Parsees having finished their commitments, while Sutarwar are placed at the bottom of the table. The game was evenly contested. Sutarwar saw more of the ball, while Parsees had a better share of the scoring opportunities. It was Sutarwar who wrested the lead in the 41st minute of the mutually agreed 60-minute game. Striker K Manoj scored with a low top-of-the-box attempt after receiving a shallow wall pass by right-winger A Alban inside the box.

Parsees neutralised the lead after just three minutes. Striker Farzeen Irani found the target following a neat pass by half-back Adil Dalal.

Earlier in a First division tie, Bad Boys Club beat MLWB, Andheri, through a lone goal by Godfrey Francis. Both the teams have qualified for the play-off.

Bandya shines for TataSC
Former international goalkeeper Bandya fisted away his counter-part VD Swamy8217;s kick, the last of Air-India8217;s in the tie-breaker, to open up the path for Tata Sports Club8217;s entry into the final of the J Kosalraman Memorial Veterans football tournament at the St Xavier8217;s ground, Vile Parle W. Tatas won 5-4 via the spot-kick duel.

Surendra Kumar, Ganesh Rao, John Alphonso, Gangadhar and Melwyn Oliver netted for the winners. Raghu Pillay, Santan D8217;Souza, Anthony Barretto and Anil Laxman scored for Air-India.

Earlier in the first semi-final, Mahindras beat Central Railway 2-1. Iqbal Hussain and Farooque Ahmed netted for the winners. Canute D8217;Silva scored for Central.

Solkar XI, Gavaskar XI in final
Solkar XI and Gavaskar XI marched into the final of the Travel Network Shatkar Trophy U-16 boys cricket tournament today. While Solkar XI restricted Vengsarkar XI to 154 to gain a huge first innings lead, Gavaskar XI, 113 for five overnight, managed to go past Vishwanath XI8217;s total of 143,before being bowled out for 160. Vishwanath XI tried vainly to get a result when they declared their second knock.

Rujuta upsets Saveri
Rujuta Palande upset third seed Saveri Rathod to enter the cadet girls semi-final of the Thane District table tennis association at Dombivli Gymkhana yesterday. Amruta Warke of Thane also made the last four.

Mumbai South-East men lose
Mumbai South-East were ousted by Thane in the pre-quarterfinals of the 50th Maharashtra state Servo basketball Championship in Nagpur yesterday.

According to information available here, South-East, after trailing 25-45 athalf-time, led 64-62 five minutes before the final whistle, thanks to the superb efforts by Shaikh Wasim 21, Ibrahim Lakdawala 16 and Ansani Amir. The Thane lads closed ranks and finished winners 79-66.

In the women8217;s quarter-final, Mumbai South-East downed Pune 41-37 and Thane outclassed Bhandara 55-33. Mumbai South-East meet Satara in the semi-final today, while Nagpur take on Thane.
