MARCH 17: Alex D8217;Cruz survived some anxious moments including the loss of the first frame, before winning 2-1 against S Pandya in the TBZ Jhaveri Bazar and Bharat Petroleum-sponsored Anthony D8217;Cruz Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana here today.

Alex, who has a handicap of 40, lost the first frame on the black ball and was trailing the second with Pandya 55 handicap leading by 60 points. But Alex showed his fighting qualities to come back and win the frame and the match.

Last night, Chirag Ramakrishnan, who has a low handicap of 10, also lost the first frame against S Raheja 60 21-106 before winning the next two 89-79, 98-74.

Somaiya MMS entered the semi-final of the Inpact-98 cricket tournament being held at the Matunga Gymkhana ground.
