Bus fare hike gets okay
Ahmedabad: The general board of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday passed a proposal to raise city bus fares by 25 per cent with majority vote. Before the proposal was passed, Congress members reminded the ruling party that the BJP had opposed the DTC fare hike in Delhi. The BJP councillors said the fresh hike was only 10 per cent while the remaining 15 per cent was of a previous proposal pending clearance with the State Government.

Rajkot: Fasting Morbi MLA Kantibhai Amrutia has been admitted to the Morbi Civil Hospital after he complained of weakness. Amrutia, who was in Morbi jail in connection with the murder of former Morbi Mayor Prakash Revashia, was on a fast since Sunday claiming to have been wrongly implicated in the murder case8217;. He is being kept under observation at the hospital.

Alang fast
Members of the Shipbreaking Association of Alang have started a relay fast against treatment by the Customs and Central Excise Department. Association representatives have gone to Delhi to present their case before Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha. They say they will continue the fast till an amicable solution is attained on various issues.
