
Riverside England, May 10: Pakistan opener Shahid Afridi was rushed to hospital after being hit on the elbow during the rain-hit practice match against Durham here today.
But X-rays showed no fracture and Pakistan are hopeful the all-rounder will be fit for their opening World Cup match against the West Indies at Bristol on Sunday.
Afridi, who acts as a top-of-the-order pinch-hitter, retired hurt before torrential rain washed out the match after 10 overs.
He was struck just below the right elbow by a rearing delivery from 20-year-old England A paceman Steve Harmison.
