Two motorcycle-borne youths today morning allegedly threw acid on two sisters who were going to work on a two-wheeler.

Twenty-six-year-old Nidhi Nanda, a practicing lawyer, and her 20-year-old sister Jyoti Nanda, a B.Sc student, who works with an insurance company, sustained injuries on face and back.

Both have been admitted to the local Civil Hospital. Senior Medical Officer SMO Dr MS Deena said injuries were not grave, but the patients were under observation.

Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against two unidentified persons. Narrating the sequence of events, Nidhi claimed that the accused slowed down their motorcycle near their two-wheeler and threw acid on them from a jug. 8220;It was a big jug of 2.5-litre capacity. I was wearing my black coat, due to which I sustained only minor injuries. My sister, who was riding pillion, sustained more injuries,8221; Nidhi said.

She said she had no clue about the accused and their motive. 8220;I noted down the number of their motorcycle. Their motive could be known only after their arrest,8221; said Nidhi. 8220;Armymen, who were travelling in a vehicle behind us, took us to the hospital,8221; Nidhi said.

Ferozepur SSP Dinesh Partap Singh said the number provided by victims appears 8220;inaccurate8221;. 8220;We are verifying the near-possible numbers. The victims have not specified any motive. But there is always a reason behind such attacks,8221; said the SSP.
