ROME, SEPT 24: German striker Oliver Bierhoff kicked in the qualifying goal with four minutes left at San Siro Stadium to give AC Milan an unhoped-for third-round berth in the Italian Cup.

The 3-0 home victory against second-division Torino in the second-round, second-leg of the competition allowed the Milan powerhouse to overturn a 0-2 first-leg deficit and advance on a 3-2 aggregate.

Bierhoff, who headed in three goals in the two first league matches, carried away 35,000 partisan fans as he scored AC Milan8217;s third goal with a powerful right drive in the 86th minute.

The qualifier by the newly-signed German striker added to two second-half goals in two minutes by Danish midfielder Thomas Helveg and Liberian forward George Weah.

In the third round Milan takes on Lazio of Rome in a repeat of last season8217;s Italian Cup final won by the Roman team.

Lazio, which has been struggling in the initial league matches despite a stellar forward line, overcame second-division Cosenza 2-0 to advance on a 4-1aggregate.

A late goal by Yugoslav midfielder Dejan Stankovic added to an own goal by Cosenza.

Lazio initially kept its Chilean striker Marcelo Salas on the substitutes bench. The South American star was then fielded as substitute of Italian world cup hero Christian Vieri, the season8217;s most expensive transfer from Atletico Madrid.
