28 more challaned for encroachment

CHANDIGARH, August 3: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High court, the Municipal Corporation today challaned about 28 more persons.

Today8217;s operation supervised by MC secretary Amarpal Singh and Assistant commissioner S.M. Sharma was a follow-up to the drive carried out in the last week.

Officials maintained that there was no resistance of any sort in its drive today. There were no demolitions. In the first phase the corporation is taking to task those shopkeepers or residents who have constructed their structures or are carrying out any business activity within 15 metres from the edge of the main roads.
