Mumbai November 17: Two persons were murdered over payment of liquor bill in separate incidents in the last 24 hours.

Vilas Thakur killed his friend Anil Mahadev Patkar 35 at Nehru Nagar near Prabhadevi at around 1.30 am on Tuesday. After a bout of drinking till late night, the duo got into an argument over who would pay for the liquor, the police said.

When Patkar refused to pay on Thakur8217;s insistence, the latter removed his waist-belt and repeatedly struck his drinking partner on his head. Patkar fell on a stone and died on the spot. Thakur has been arrested.

In a similar incident, Raj Shankar Kakde and Salim Rasool Sheikh together had liquor at Kudal Village in Dindoshi, Malad east when a dispute broke between the two.

According to the police, Sheikh wanted Kakde to pay up. When Kakde refused, he was struck with a carpenter8217;s tool on his head. Kakde was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead around 2 this morning. Sheikh is still at large.
