S.A.S. NAGAR, Dec 3: About one dozen structures were razed to the ground on the third day of the anti-encroachment drive by the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority PUDA. Around one dozen taxi and rehra stands in Phase IV, VII,VIII, IX, X and XI, besides two from Sector 70 were demolished by the demolition squad.

The drive, which started around 11 a.m., lasted for five hours and culminated around 4 p.m. The demolition team consisted of 23 personal 8212; three Junior Engineers, 11 police personal and eight labourers. The team was headed by PUDA Sub-Divisional-Engineer building Pritam Singh. On Monday, encroachments will be removed in the area earmarked for the bulk market adjacent to Phase XI in the north east of the township and the land acquired land by PUDA in Kambala village, sources said.
